Hardship is part of our human experience. Suffering extends a painful, yet profound invitation to grow personally and deepen our connection to others. I join people on their brave journeys through pain because, at my core, I believe wounds can be healed and hope found.

My therapeutic style may be described as relational and experiential. I’m known to be a warm, curious, and compassionate person who listens deeply. My clinical practice focuses on individual therapy with adults experiencing anxiety, grief, trauma, and relationship concerns. Some of my clinical experiences and interests are the following:

For those whose faith is important to them, I integrate counseling with spirituality and see it as one holistic journey.

I welcome creative expression as a means of healing. I have an interest in working with artists and, as an actor myself, I recognize the unique hardships often faced by those in the arts.

I work with people with intersecting identities and conflicting roles in life and guide them from inner turmoil to greater alignment. I offer a safe place to sit with complex questions.

I have experience working in community mental health and private practice settings.

I support people through painful times. I help them explore their inner world, become their authentic self, and find meaningful connections to others. If I sound like someone you would like to meet, I would welcome your call or email. I am accepting clients for both in-person and virtual sessions. Sliding scale may be available upon request.

Julia utilizes a strength based and relational approach, and works with each client to determine a successful treatment plan. She sees the importance of holistically integrating all aspects of an individual’s life, such as culture, family origin, spirituality, relationships, and internal thoughts and emotions, to foster healthy growth.

Julia earned a B.A. in Pre-Counseling from Moody Bible Institute and a Master of Social Work, with a specialization in Mental Health, from Loyola University Chicago. Throughout her education and experience, she has worked with young mothers, adults with mental disabilities, and low-income adults seeking counseling services. In addition to her clinical work at Harris Clinical Group, Julia enjoys teaching and is an adjunct professor in the Counseling and Human Service’s undergraduate program at Moody Bible Institute. Brigitte is a Licensed Professional Counselor who received her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wheaton College. She completed her clinical internship at Harris Clinical Group. Prior to her career in the mental health field, Brigitte was an elementary teacher for Chicago Public Schools and received her MA in Early Childhood Education from National Louis University. Brigitte received her BA from the University of Kansas.

Brigitte is a relational, trauma informed, psychotherapist who is passionate about empowering her clients to receive holistic health and joy in their lives. Brigitte believes in the power of the therapeutic alliance, the bond built between client and therapist to be a significant agent of change. Her clinical practice focuses on individual psychotherapy with adults, as well as couples. Brigitte uses a psychodynamic approach, emphasizing the genuine connection and empowerment to work with people suffering from depression, anxiety, trauma and relationship issues. Her focus is to acknowledge unconscious content and bring understanding and insight to past experiences that may be impacting one’s behavior, feelings and patterns, allowing them to move on from being stuck. Brigitte’s style of therapy involves the deep work of uncovering underlying reasons for behaviors and not just the behaviors themselves, which can lead to repair in relationships as well as overall healing.

Brigitte comments on her approach: “My goal is to create a safe space where people feel understood and are able to reveal their inner life struggles. I help clients to understand themselves more fully and we work collaboratively to break through barriers standing in between them and their potential for joy. One great benefit from this work is the outcome of learning how to have overall awareness, trust one’s self and emotional experiences. I tailor my treatment to fit each client and can integrate a spiritual perspective for those interested. I believe in each of my clients wholeheartedly. I feel that therapy helps to reveal each person’s inner strength and resilience, fostering a more satisfying life and authentic self.”

He earned his B.A. in Psychology from Taylor University in Indiana, his M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University, and his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology (Chicago-campus).  Dr. Harris completed his internship at Vanderbilt University-Veterans Administration (an APA accredited internship program) in Nashville TN.

Dr. Harris has extensive experience in hospital and outpatient settings, working with people of all ages and conditions. He has considerable experience in psychological assessment and treatment of conditions such as Depression, Anxiety, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Grief, and many others. In addition, Paul has served as clinical supervisor to many psychology and counseling interns and post-doctoral residents in the Chicago-land area.  Paul’s leadership experiences include serving as Executive Director of Cornerstone Counseling Center of Chicago and in his current role as Director of Harris Clinical Group.

Paul is interested in the integration of Christian thought and current psychodynamic thinking and practice.  He enjoys working with church leaders and communities to bring better understanding and respect for both psychological and spiritual perspectives when considering human struggles.  In describing his clinical approach, he says, “I enjoy working with individuals and couples who are highly motivated to find healing through better (sometimes painful) self-understanding and courageous personal reflection.  I focus on discovering deep understandings of each person and then connecting these to healthier levels of self-care.  My hope and belief is that this work will bring healing, not only to my clients, but to those beyond the consultation room.”  Paul adds, “For most people, our symptoms of anxiety and depression actually make sense and are understandable once we feel safe enough to talk about what might be closer to the root of the problem.  It may take some time, but if we do this well, therapy can be a healing, reassuring, and profoundly re-centering experience.”

Paul is also a musician who sincerely savors a well-crafted song and meaningful lyric.  He likens the process of psychotherapy to honest artistic expression as both are attempts to uncover and reveal the remarkable beauty in the world and in each of us, even though this beauty is often hidden just below the suffering we see in this world and the pain we experience in our lives.

I am a thoughtful, warm, seasoned therapist who combines a relational approach to counseling with sound clinical judgement. I have had the privilege to work with clients who are courageous, hardworking, introspective, and some of the most wonderful people I have met. I am inspired by my clients daily. I greatly enjoy walking alongside individuals and partnering with them as they pursue wholeness. Most frequently, I see clients facing challenges with anxiety, trauma, and spiritual concerns.

I provide a safe place to explore concerns about family, racial identity, gender and sexuality. I have interest in clients who have shifting belief systems or have wounds from faith communities. I also enjoy working with those in the Helping Professions including: therapists, teachers, social workers, first responders and medical professionals.

No matter your background, I would be glad to talk with you to see if we would work well together or if I know of a therapist who would be right for you. Finding a therapist can feel daunting but doesn’t have to be. My first step is a 15 minute call to explore whether we would be a good fit. Feel free to email and I would be glad to arrange a conversation.

Judi strongly believes in the power of listening well and offering “hospitality” for another’s story and struggle. She views the counseling relationship as a sacred trust, and fosters a strong partnership with clients, which she has found facilitates insight, hope, and healing.

Judi welcomes individual adult clients who want to work through issues related to anxiety, depression, identity/self-esteem, grief and loss, relationship concerns, career/vocation, and other matters. She understands that acknowledging family history, past trauma, and how we’re “wired” are important elements in creating a full and satisfying life.

After completing her M.A. in counseling from Northeastern Illinois University, Judi has continued her training with an advanced psychodynamic fellowship at the University of Chicago and many hours of additional continuing education. She loves teaching and was a faculty instructor in the counseling psychology Master’s program at North Park University. She has been in practice for 20+ years.

Judi thinks of her work this way: “I believe we all, fundamentally, desire to grow and be all we can be. I support clients as they explore what makes life difficult, and help them identify resources they have and tools they can learn to nurture a meaningful life. For clients who desire it, I offer an approach that affirms the importance of spirituality. Some of the tools I use are reflection, questions, metaphor, and humor.”

In addition to her work at Harris Clinical Group, Judi enjoys cycling, travel, reading and music.
